RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina prison officials say two current and one former correctional officers have been charged with beating an inmate at a maximum-security prison.
The state Correction Department said Wednesday that the State Bureau of Investigation agents arrested correctional officers Terry Bell and Brian Bostick and former prison captain Gregory Beck. All three were charged with assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury. Bell and Bostick were suspended.
The charges stem from the officers' use of force in March 2008 at Maury Correctional Institution in Greene County. A department spokesman did not return a call seeking details.
WITN in Washington, N.C., reported that the officers beat an inmate with a baton.
